So most of the reviews and early observation of the Aipods-2 is that the sound quality is just the same as the 1st generation. So is that correct ? I was most worries about the lack of BASS and thump that it does not have ? It just feels a tad low on BASS !!

Any feedback on this ?

I’m no audiophile by any means so take this with a grain of salt.

Mine sound exactly the same as my gen 1s. No louder and the bass treble balance is no different as far as I can tell.

My guess is that people who hear differences might have had worn, damaged or clogged speakers on their gen 1s.

Apple told MKBHD that nothing changed with the sound quality.

Anything you hear to the contrary is the placebo effect in action.

This is AirPods 1.2 with optional wireless charging.
Nothing wrong with that of course, just good to be realistic about what did/didn't actually change here.

I have both and it's the same.

How about sound quality when the mic on the AirPods is used? I know in the original AirPods, it will switch to the SCO codec when using the mic and that reduces the sound quality. I wanted to use that for FaceTime and conference calls using Zoom meetings. But the sound quality when using mic has put me off. I am wondering if this is the same in AirPods 2. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if this situation still exists with AirPods Pro? I would very much like to be able to have high quality audio through AirPods while using them as both input & output with a BT5 Mac (e.g. MacBookAir8,1).

AirPods are hot garbage. The AirPods pro might sound like... A $80 run of the mill pair of earbuds.

personally I’d go for the PowerBeats Pro

Thanks for the reply. I'll take that into consideration. I would however still be curious as to the answer.

How do airpods 2 sound compared to the apple lightning headphones? Is it the same?

I think that's a bit of a strong statement, I think my airpods sound better than my jabra elite 65's did and they are almost as good sounding as my bose.

Wow if you are going to charge customers over $249.00 any chance you could improve on the sound quality? I guess not.

apple's website says superior sound quality on the airpods pro. There may be confusion in this thread bc it's an old thread asking about the difference in sound from airpods 1 to 2...which there isn't a difference when comparing those.

Here’s a video that talks a little bit about sound quality around the 3 and half minute mark...
