I have had my set up for a couple of weeks now, and the sound from the new 6 speaker display is no bad, but not that good either imo.

In fact not much better than my old 2013 iMac, with Boom installed.

Has anyone tried Boom 2 on the new set up yet, is it any better and does it work?

I have another option of using external speakers,MM1 Bowers and Wilkins, but was hoping the new display speakers would be better than they are without having to use these.

Does the new Boom work with Monterey?, it didn't with my old Catalina OS.

Thanks

I think my 2019 iMac sounded better than my ASD. The ASD sound seems more directionally downward and less full.

You can download a trial version to see if it works and also if it improves the display sound sufficiently for you.

I suspect everyone's going to have a slightly different experience because their set up, surrounding and ears are all different to everyone else. So the only way to know is to try it.

But thanks for this post - I wasn't aware of Boom. I will give it a try when my ASD eventually arrives.

One little tip I haven't seen anyone else mentioning: Don't place your Mac Studio underneath your Studio Display or you will be blocking either the left or right speaker and impacting the sound balance. Regardless of Apples hyperbole though, they are nothing special but were good enough for me to get rid of my standalone desktop speakers and reduce the clutter.
