title explains it all. A frustration as I am on vacation. After about an hour of play the sound is several seconds ahead of the video. Should I try another method of exporting? Or a different program?

Try exporting for iPod video. Should be an m4v file that will open up in iTunes when you open it. Hope that helps.

The Answer

to .avi's with no sound in Quicktime!

It's free:
http://trac.cod3r.com/a52codec/

I've got Flip4Mac pro, all the codecs Apple features; nothing worked.
VLC works, but you can't edit; exports fail or crash VLC.
Don't know about Perian, just installed it, but A52 already worked.
