“Did you try turning it off and on again?”

Since it lacks a power button, you’ll need to unplug your Studio Display from the electrical outlet and then plug it in to force a reboot. This should clear the issue.

first thing i did
There is a known bug affecting the Studio Display producing garbled/glitchy audio, and a reboot clears it. Supposedly Apple is aware of the issue.

I’d try to reboot it again (just in case). If that doesn’t work, create a new user on the Mac, reboot your computer, and only log in as the new user. See if that replicates your issue or clears it. If it persists, it might be hardware related, but I’d reinstall macOS to make sure.

Can you provide more information like a link to an article that talks about the known bug?
In his review of the Studio Display, Gruber mentioned experiencing the issue a while back on Daringfireball.net, pointing out the lack of power button and asking if there was a way to use macOS to reboot the monitor. A few users have mentioned it here, with a couple indicating that Apple support said a fix is in the works.
