Internet is totally broken on my Mac with Yosemite PB2 on it. I have tried all the know fixes like repairing permissions, reinstalling the ios80211family.kext file, after repairing files with Kext.app. It connects to the ISP but will not connect to internet. I have tried via WiFi, Bluetooth sharing and Thunderbolt sharing, with another Mac, running Mavericks, but with the same results. My other Macs and iPad are connecting perfectly. I cannot therefore connect to the App store to get the PB3 and PB3 recovery files. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can download these files (I assume as .dmg, which will unpack into a pkg) and then put them onto my Yosemite Mac in the hope that PB3 will repair this problem.

Why not download PB 3 from the MAS with your other Mac, and create a USB installer to reinstall PB 3 on the Mac that is having the trouble?

Thanks for that thought. Where is the file located after download and what is its name? I was worried about Yosemite auto-installing on my working Mavericks Mac Mini, after the connection and SD card reader issues I have had on my Yosemite MBP.

The file downloads to your Applications folder. It will be Yosemite Beta install (or something very close to that). Once it finishes the install, it will want to install. Exit out of it and you will be fine. I suggest making a USB install of it, so that you can install it on the problem Mac. If you don't make a backup file of the install file, it disappears once you go through the install process.

The following post from Ty gives the simple instructions for creating a USB install for PB 2. I would think it would work for PB 3 as well.

Many thanks. Your help much appreciated. Apple don't make it easy, as when you try and download, they tell you that you have already used your redemption code. Luckily I had an old me.com ID that worked to get another code.

Talk about Murphy's Law! I was about 20% through downloading PB3 onto my Mac Mini, when the Internet connection on my MBP sprang to life. I now have the proper update loading through the App Store. I hope it fixes both my connection and SD card reader problems. The SD card reader drive and the card appear in System Profiler but have disappeared from Finder. I have tried Killall Finder in Terminal and switching the external drives and devices off and on again with no luck.
