Looking to learn any real experiences/steers to buy a refurb TB Display today. AFAIK the Apple.com Refurb Store stopped selling them in 2016.
I realize there are better alternatives out there today but I don't need Retina or 5K, can't afford Apple's new hi-priced XDRD, and I already own 1 TBD. Planning to use 2 TBDs with a new 2018 MINI+Mojave. I already have multiple $49 TB3->TBE1/2 adaptor dongles.
There are some online retailers that offer them albeit wuth some cosmetic flaws, but can they be trusted?
TIA

If you’re in the US, I would trust Best Buy’s open box items for all but the Satisfactory category.

Thanks but doubtfully there will be open boxes fpr a produt that was discontinued by Apple over 5 yrs ago. Unless someone turns one in for a BB trade-in program. Plus I believe BB never sold Apple desktops, especially back then.

My question regarded 'refurb' vendors typically found online (B̶e̶s̶t̶B̶u̶y). I'll checkout their Geeksquad counter anyways.

But why? You can get better 27" 1440p 60Hz monitors these days— at a lower price. Offerings from Dell are common and liked, among other brands.

Assuming this is what you’re looking for, Newegg has a good reputation:

$760 for a used 27" screen doesn't sound like a good deal to me. I know what "refurbished" means when I buy directly from Apple, but suspect that could mean just about anything from a third party.

I really wanted one of the Thunderbolt displays for my 2013 MacBook Air but they were just too expensive. When they were discontinued, I thought about buying a refurb from Apple but still thought they were too much.

Curious as to what kind of prices you have seen for the "refurbs" you are considering? And how could anyone say if they can be trusted when you don't identify the seller(s)?

Sounds like the OP just wants another Thunderbolt Display so it can match the one he's already got. As the owner of two old 20' Apple aluminium cinema displays that sit side by side, I understand where he's coming from - it would annoy me if one of the displays was different.

That's fair, but you could source two Dell displays that match for the price of one used Thunderbolt Display. Then OP could sell their used one and come out ahead. Just food for thought.

I wouldn't buy a thunderbolt display.
I'd look for a good 3rd-party monitor.
Many more choices that way.
