space based shooter game demo'd months ago?

Hey, I bought X-plane and am impressed by it, but I'm not a big flight simulator person.

It reminded me that Apple demoed a space based game with the same flight controls as an arcade style shoot-em-down game. Was that ever released? Anything similar?

It was a proof-of-concept. They're not releasing it.

I have no idea why no one has since made an analog.

I see one of the reviews says it doesn't work like the Steve Jobs demo... pity we can't trial these apps for 5 games before buying.
