So I just bought what seems to be a genuine 3rd gen classic buckle leather band. I wanted it to match my SBSS watch so I ordered the one with the black buckle but I don't recall Apple ever selling a classic buckle leather band with black DLC lugs and buckle. Do you guys think it's legit?
The lugs even have the "Assembled in China" watermark.

Did you buy this from chargerstore? I don’t remember Apple ever selling these but I believe they had these exclusively bundled with the SB watch back in the day..

Yes that's where I got it from. I switched from SS to SBSS this year and I'm OCD so I need matching black lugs even if it costs me.

Thats not OCD, I would do the same. But the band was sold as space gray hardware so my theory might not be correct.. you could try asking him what watch the band was sold with. The seller had a lot of knowledge on AW.

He said it's sold without the box and it's still new so I guess your bundle theory makes sense, anyways I won't complain I wanted an OEM black leather band that matches my SBSS and here it is!

Apple never officially sold a leather band with black lugs, neither bundled nor seperate, until this season‘s Hermes Noir and Black Modern Buckle bands. The SBSS at first only came with the Space Black Link Bracelet, later also with a black Sport Band, and later still with the Black Milanese.

Thanks for the confirmation. I checked on the WayBack Machine and it seems you're right. Either this is a user-made Frankenband or an internal prototype.

I purchased a Black Classic Buckle from the same buyer and it had the silver hardware. I believe it it came in an OEM box - I know the Product Red Classic Buckle I purchased from them was new in box.

I replaced the silver lugs with black on both to match my S4 SB SS, though they still have the silver buckle (I'd like to swap them out for black if I can ever find a matching third-party replacement).

I know that swapping the lugs is easy as pie, but the buckle not so much. That's why I'm surprised it's black in the first place. From the texture it seems like the buckle is made of aluminum and not steel and likely comes from a woven nylon band.

I'll post pictures of the thing when I receive it.
