Space Empire building/strategy games.

Recently, having purchased Civilization IV and the Warlords expansion, I have a renewed interest in turn based strategy/empire building games. I used to play Master of Orion II and Civilization II a lot but when Civilization III and Moo3 came out, I thought both games to be awful and lost interest in the genre.

I heard there was a Mac version of Master of Orion II but I don't know much about it. I have a first generation MacBook Pro and I suspect it would not be compatible at all.

Are there any recommendations for space empire building games?

There is a Mac version of MOOII. I believe you'd have to run SheepShaver to get OS 9 working to play it, though.

As for other space strategy games, I'll throw out Star Wars: Empire at War. I have the PC version, and I enjoy it. There is a Mac version as well, though the expansion has not been released for the Mac.
