i seen where they are gonna release an ipad in 2018 under $300, do you all think its gonna be the new shade of space grey like the new iphone x and 8's have or will it be the old dull color like the ipads have or the 6 and 6s iphones had?

Is the color actually different or are you referring to the glass back that the new iPhones have. I doubt they will release an iPad with a glass back.
We're on our way to 50 Shades of Space Gray. There's the near-black Space Gray of the Watch, iPhone 8/X, and Mac Pro; the somewhat lighter Space Gray of the new iMac Pro, and the more-or-less medium Space Gray of the current MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and iPads.
So which shade of Space Gray will we see next? I'm sure there are those who want their iPad to match their attire, but in the big scheme of things, how much does that matter? Clothing colors fade with age.
I have one theory, which is that Jony & Co. feel the smaller the device, the darker it can be without seeming oppressively dark. However, the list above shows that there are exceptions that counter this theory.
For me, the big iPad color question is bezel, not the color of the back. Regardless of the shade of Space Gray, if one must buy a Space Gray iPad to have a black bezel, I'll take whatever shade of Space that comes with it. I have the Silver 12.9" with white bezel... my next will have a black bezel, whatever that takes.

I agree with the above. The bezel color is probably the key aspect. Some folks think white is distracting and prefer black. (I prefer white.) But as far as the back, most people use a protective case that covers the whole thing, so I’m not sure it matters that much anyway.
