I am finding the iPad keyboard actually much more easy to use than I expected. But, does anyone find that in landscape mode that you are missing the keyboard when typing using the standard touch type method? I thing my thumbs are actually tending to tap below the spacebar in the border region of the screen since a typical spacebar is actually almost always at the dead bottom of a keyboard.

So my words tend to runtogether.
 
Just the opposite here. Imget in a hurry and often hit the n key instead of the space bar. Go figure.
 
I am hitting the "N" on occasion. I really think the keyboard is WAY more useful than what I thought it would be.
 
I am a blazingly fast typist and I have to say that the virtual keyboard on the iPad totally sucks. Add that to bizarre autocorrect, plus in my case the tendency for the keyboard to insert unneeded periods every other time I hit the spacebar and the whole thing just drives me off the wall.

Apart from that I love the thing!
 
I don't have a problem with the space bar, but more with hitting the a and s key sometimes mixing those two around. Also for the backspace I'll hit p. Otherwise don't really have a problem. Just type this message on it. :)
 
I usually hit the numbers/symbols key instead of the space bar. It drives me crazy. Do those two buttons have to be so large? Ugh.

If you go into settings, then keyboard, and turn off the "." shortcut it will stop the unneeded periods. Hope this helps!

I find it amusing that you and everyone else describe hitting the 'n' key when going for space but your message has an inadvertent 'm' instead of a space, which is usually what I get!

Yes I already did this (thanks for the tip though!) but now I miss the convenience of the double space period. I don't miss the random periods though!
 
My biggest problem is the missing apostrophe. I end up accidentally trying to include it in the word (instead of letting auto-correct do it), which ends with me hitting return and getting the ending letter of the word as a capital letter on the next line.

Like this:

I can
T believe I don
T remember there isn
T an apostrophe!

For an apostophe without switching modes, do an upwards "flick" on the comma and you'll get an apostophe! Neat, huh?

Already knew that... I was just stating what frustrates me about the virtual keyboard as it stands now. By habit my pinky looks for the real apostrophe key.

While the "flick" apostrophe comes in handy at times, 99% of the time you don't need it. Just don't type the apostrophe at all and the iPad's auto-correct will add it in for you. Neat huh?
 
The keyboard would be worlds better if we could actually rest our fingers on the home keys.

Hopefuuly something of the like is in the works.
 
THe funny this is on a normally keyboard i tend to hit the spacebar with both thumps so when i type on the the ipad a lot of times i double tap the keyboard and get the period at the end where i don't want it. i just have to get use to it otherwise i find the keyboard great.
 
I find I tend to hit the b key

Also find that the iPad does not like fingernails, which interferes with the space bar (and lets me know when it's time for a manicure)
 
I must be digitally impaired — I've never typed "n" by mistake but constantly hit the uppercase arrow instead of "a".

On the whole I'm surprised by how much I like the onscreen keyboard. I type fast but I write slowly, if that makes any sense, so the need to proceed with a bit of caution and care does not seem to make much practical difference in my actual rate of written output. Actually I find myself becoming impatient sometimes with physical keyboards that don't do things like correct typos and insert periods and apostrophes.

I bought both a bluetooth keyboard and a keyboard dock along with the iPad but hardly ever use either of them.
