I'm a college student and I think it would be great to switch between apps without having to hit the home button. Does anyone think it would be nice to switch between the first four open apps with a spaces type look or feel? If so how would you like to switch between apps? Let me know what you think.

When we get multitas- oh wait with that you have to press the home button twice. lol

I think the current app switcher is to slow and clunky to be useful in class. A four finger swipe would work great though. Good idea.

iOS 3.2 is completely unacceptable on the ipad all together, and makes it very difficult to use in class. i can't believe they shipped a tablet without native multitasking right off the bat. iOS 4 for iPad better not suck.

Three spread fingers that you rotate. As you do, the open apps are shown in a smaller oblong window (same as open windows when you hit ALT+TAB in Windumb) which move along with the rotation, highlighting each app in sequence. When the desired app is highlited, just release to open.

I'm not a fan of gestures that use more than two fingers -- I find it hard to hold down three or four fingers on the screen at the same time with enough pressure for them to register. Three is hard, and four is totally imposssible -- my little finger is a lot shorter than my other three fingers, it just doesn't feel comfortable to have to put all four fingers down on the screen at the same time.

So what I'd like is something like hold on the screen with two fingers to go into switcher mode, then swipe right or left with one finger to switch apps, like in the Palm Pre. But whatever they do, having to hunt for the home button in order to switch between apps is more awkward on the iPad than on iPhone/touch, because you hold the iPad in all four directions, so you never know where the home button is at any given moment.
