Do you think future iPhone models will add the ability to take 3D spatial photos and video?

I would love a way to shoot/capture spatial content outside of using the headset itself.

What do you think?

no, the different cameras are too close to each other on a phone
That's why you would add an additional camera to the phone, probably an ultra-wide on near the bottom edge of the phone when held in portrait. But that would add additional cost that wouldn't be worth it unless a significant portion of Apple users have the headsets.

100% yes. Being able to take photos with your iPhone you’re then able to relive in the headset is a huge feature. Having to take those photos with the headset is not so much.

You are wrong bud, as usual.
Oof a bit harsh.

But to be fair to them, it's quite impressive how (and if) Apple is pulling this off. The iPhone event showed some pretty impressive parallax and an even wider window than what was shown at WWDC.

And I personally was extremely--and pleasantly--surprised that Apple introduced the feature so early. I was expecting next year's iPhone at the earliest.

I'll wait for the feature to official launch to see reviews on the format, video quality etc.

If it's good enough, then I actually might get the iPhone 15 Pro. My country prob isn't getting the Vision Pro til late-2024 early 2025 and I want to capture a lot of memories in Spatial Video between now and then.

Good point. It's a chicken and egg situation. By enabling iPhones to record spatial content, Apple is ensuring that prospective users can capture videos now and thereby have a reason to buy a Vision.

This also reduces the reliance on disney and other partners to produce content.

Can 3d video from other prosumer/consumer cameras be displayed spatially on AVP? I'm thinking of dedicated cameras like the little cheap one from Fujifilm as well as combined shots from two cameras. (I want to start shooting Spatial now but I don't want to replace my 12 mini as my daily phone, and buying a 15 Max just as a camera seems a bit weird.)

I'm curious about this too.

Though keep in mind you don't need the 15 Pro Max. Even the regular 15 Pro will do.

But no mini sadly.

Even if it’s not supported by default, it’s a matter of time before there’s a third-party spatial video conversion app.
It’s already been done the other way around, getting iPhone spatial videos up and playing on the Quest
