i was watching tv when my iPhone started to ring. But it didnt sound too good, it sounded distorted. I put the phone closer to me and i thought "oh no, its busted!" If it is busted, will apple replace, or fix my phone? if so, am i going to have to pay anything? please help if possible!!!

Turn it off, then back on and see if that fixes it.

it has happened a few times when I was listening to music, restarting it fixed it each time.

thanks man but i tried it again which makes that the third time restarting it........ but no luck!! any advice about taking it to a store anyone?

Assuming you can take it to an apple store, just let them listen to it. Im sure since it has only been a few days they will replace it.

if not call the 1800-my-apple and keep complaining, they will eventually replace it.

if they replace it you won't have to pay anything.. They'll activate it for you at the store and you'll just have to re-sync it at home- so sync it before you take it in to be looked at so you don't lose anything you have stored on it..

i guess we will have to wait and see, but that pissed me off. if you have a speaker to listen to for music, it shouldnt bust within the first two weeks.

Take it to the Apple store with your receipt and they will replace it if there is a problem that you didn't create yourself. I took back the first copy I got when then earpiece speaker was distorted and sounded like it was blown. They swapped me out with another one . That lasted for a week... Same thing happened to that one - 2 lemons..my luck. I took the 2nd phone back and they gave me a 3rd one! No problems with either exchange.

they did replace mine

My speaker stopped working on Sunday. After less than 1 week of use it just stopped working. I tried every solution on the Apple Support page, nothing worked. Finally, I stopped in the Apple store in Charlotte, NC and they swapped out my iPhone with a new iPhone. Its great that they were so accommodating BUT it worries me that a speaker broke so soon.

does it matter if i bought mine at an att store?

no, that was one of the deals in the apple AT&T contract.
Apple must be able to service the phone

so all i have to do is take my iPhone (box and accessories that came with it?) to an apple store, tell them about the speaker, and i should be getting a new iPhone right then and there?

Yep, if they have them in stock.

and again if for some reason you cant get a replacement at the apple store call them,

outcome...

so i went to the apple store today to discuss about my busted speaker. i talked to one guy and he said everything sounded alright, that got me pissed. i said i guarantee you if you put my iPhone next to one that is on display, they wont sound the same, he didnt want to try it. i tested one out for myself and could clearly tell that mine is messed up. So i decided to try someone else, he told me to set up an appointment for tomorrow and they could find out what is wrong tomorrow. so now i have to wait an extra day. any thoughts?

Did you have a genius bar appointment when you walked in today? Was the employee a genius or just a sales one. If they weren't a genius it wouldn't have really helped you in comparing, but that's never been my experience at Apple stores. They are always very helpful. I'd suggest making an appointment with the genius bar and present your problem then. Remain calm and be friendly and the genius will be also.

it sure wasnt a genius (real life or an apple genius ;)) i set up an appointment yesterday for today and its not till 6, so i have to wait till then. Today was weird, my sister called me and the ringing sounded perfectly normal. I then called from my house phone, and it sounded distorted again. I then told my sister to call me, and it went back to being busted? What is wrong with my phone?!?!?!?

Is it the same ringtone? Maybe one of the ringtones got messed up somehow...

just informing you guys, that they happily exchanged my iPhone with a busted speaker for a complete new one. i was surprised that they just took it from me and popped out the sim card, opened a new 8gb iPhone, and just switched the sim cards. so if something is wrong with your iPhone (internally, not to sure about cosmetic, although a guy exchanged his due to a cracked screen) take it back and get yours exchanged.:apple:

Good to hear they got you set up with a new iPhone. My Mom cranks up the volume on her ringtone and I fear for her speaker. Let's all just keep things at reasonable levels. The internal speaker isn't made for this kind of punishment.

from what I have heard, overall, they seem very good about swapping em out if something is wrong with it.

Kudos for that so far.

Enjoy you new new phone!

That's good to hear that they exchanged it for you. I'm having similar problems with my speaker. I have owned the phone for 3 weeks now and have just now attempted to play music through the speaker so this is the first time I have noticed this problem. Do you think they will give me a hard time about exchanging since it's already past 14 days?

i dont think so, because its nothing you can fix, and it did come with a one year warranty. so i say. walk in like i did (the second time) with box and everything included, and walk to the bar, tell them what is wrong, and hope for the best. post your outcome.
