LH speaker constant crackling/rattling on deep tones with all sound producing apps, even happens on the startup chime. Shift the balance to the right and it goes away. Listen via headphones no issues at all. Probably spend about 12 hrs a day in front of this thing, work and media consumption. Going to have to book in for repair.

Just a moan really, sucks to be without for a week or 2. Unless anyone's got any suggestions?

If it's defective then there really isn't any other option but to send it in for repair. Unless you want to live with it or get some external speakers. Just be aware they are going to format your drive and it will come back in the factory state and you will have to install all your stuff again. So save anything that's important to you and move it off the MacBook.

Just to follow up on this, went to the Genius Bar today expecting to lose my laptop for a week. They had a look and found 2 tiny balls from a burst silica packet in my laptop bag in the speaker. Going to be keeping the bag clean and storing it hinge down in the bag from now on!
