Just wondering if anyone has compared them and if there is a difference, given the 15" seems to have all that area beside the keyboard for them?

The 15" and 17" have always had much better speakers. My 15" is much clearer and louder than my sisters Blackbook. It's just the way its been. But, the one problem with all Apple speakers is a massive lack of bass, kinda sucks

I have book the blackbook and the new uMBP 15"

The uMBP speakers are more surround and louder, the sound is crisp and clear. But that's probably because the blackbook is three years old.

I have the 13in MBP and am really impressed with the speakers, much better then I expected and can get VERY loud.
Now I am not saying these things are to die for but compared to the 13in white MBs I have used these are WAY better. I'm not sure if they are any different then the old unibody MB though as I have never compared.

The difference is huge. It means you get to hear the sound instead of the people on the other side of the screen.

13'' mbp speaker is indeed good but
even with the best speaker with this kinda cover up it will reduce the quality no matter how.

speaker grill makes alot of difference.
13'' mbp speaker hide inside, it is loud but not clear any good speaker being cover like that will never hit its best performance.

what you listen on the 13'' mbp is more like a leakage of show instead of a direct position with speaker grill holes.

I bet if you take out the speaker and play music, you can tell the huge difference.

What's a woofer do? Because macbooks just lack bass in general.

ok first of all any speaker is called a woofer not just the bass speaker. second putting a "sub woofer" in a laptop is silly. there just isnt enough room for it move to produce the low end so no matter what ALL laptop speakers will be very top heavy.

as for which is better…they both suck.
