I was wondering if the speakers in the 17" MBP are better than those in the 15"? A few MBP owners I spoke with said the 17" speakers are better but I wanted to hear the opinion of some people on here.

I've heard that too. I came from a last rev. 15" PB to a 15" MBP and was very disappointed with the quality of the internal speakers.
Many 15" MBP owners reported distorted right speakers. I'm one of em :(
Don't know if Apple fixed the problem in the new MBP C2D.

If you take a look into the 15"/17" MBP you notice why the 17" has superior sound quality over the 15".

The 17" has 4 equally sized speakers installed. Two on both sides under the aluminium mesh.

The 15" only has 2 equally sized speakers installed, and 1 very small one, if that IS a speaker.

So the sound quality of the 17" shoud be twice as good as the 15".

If possible visit an Apple store and have a listen. Bring your own cd.

They're noticeably better. Friend had 15" and just upgraded to 17" C2D. Also, it's better than the 17" PBG4.

Ive never heard the 17" but I would assume they are better, just because the overall laptop is bigger and therefor the speakers will be bigger I would assume.

That's the microphone, notice the 17" has one as well, lower left of the black enclosure.

ummm, no. It will be louder, but since it is the same driver, it won't be better.

Twice as good shouldn't be taken literally. I'm just saying an extra two speakers will add a broader range to any music system. It will sound better.
