I recently purchased a mac mini which should be coming today. My question is are the speakers good enough for you. Or should I buy a set of speakers. I've been looking for some speakers anyway but Dont know which one. Does anyone have a recommendation on it.

I didn't even know a Mac Mini came with speakers?

On speakers it depends on what you expect...basic Apple speakers are ok for an office type situation but if you really like to crank it up or really want excellent sound quality you need to look elsewhere. I say just try them out and see how they sound for your ears...it really is a think that depends on your ears and what you expect.

Is this your first Mac?

Depending on what you want, you will probably find the speaker (singular ?) in the Mini a tad on the useless side. I use the speakers built into the monitor (a Viewsonic VA1912) but if you want decent sound you will definitely want to go for external speakers.

If it is built in, then I would say definately get external speakers...I can't stand built in speakers personally.

There are plenty of good speakers out there for $30-60 range, but if you want top notch for not too much- I suggest these Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0 PC Speaker System- Black I bought a pair for my school off Amazon for $99 at the time (I just saw they are a little cheaper now) These speakers rock. I set them up with an LCD/comptuer showing Happy Feet in a very large multipurpose room in my school for the students during spirit week and they filled the entire room really well for their small size. The room is larger than a b-ball court and a two and a half story ceiling with horrible acoustics! They have a slim profile and take very little desk space for their quality in my opinion.

Good luck!

...It's a computer that's 2 inches tall for Chrissakes. The internal speaker is suitable for alert noises only. For anything else, get a set of externals.

I like the JBL Creature IIs, surprisingly good sounding while still small and attractive.
