Is it just me or do the speakers on the macbook suck? I just got this yesterday and I have the volume cranked all the way up and i'm less than two feet away and it's barely loud enough to hear. At 50% I can't even hear it unless my ears are within 6 inches. Is this normal or did I get a defective macbook? It's a 29th week 2.0ghz white macbook.

yea, I agree, the speakers on the Macbook suck
I got mine, and when I started listening to music I at first thought they were broken, then I realized that they just suck
I don't like how the speakers are on the back of it....ick

I was video chatting with my sister and she could barely hear me on her Macbook. The speakers reflect off the bottom of the Display so much sound is lost. Wireless WIFI Speakers are being made now to pair up with computers... nice!!!

From all accounts they're not that great (like the 12" powerbook). Buy some decent headphones, problem solved. Laptop speakers are for emergencies really.

Perhaps everyone is spoiled - most compact PC laptops have sound similar to the MacBook. Get a pair of speakers or headphones.

The MBP 17" on the other hand contains the best speakers I've heard in a laptop. For company webcasts, casual listening, etc in my quiet room here, many's the time I don't bother to switch on the DAC / amp / speakers. Just gloatin' :p
