Evening All,

I just installed SoundSource on my new MBP and didn't really think to turn off system sounds during the process (installer didn't ask for it specifically). I had music going and during the install the audio cut out for a couple seconds, then the speakers popped and the sound came back - interestingly at a slightly higher level than it was before.

Has anyone else experienced this before? Do I need to be concerned about any sort of like speaker damage, etc? Things generally sound ok as far as I can tell but again the laptop is new so I am not entirely sure if things are off or not. My thinking is any damaged speaker situation would be very obvious vs nuanced but not sure.

I appreciate any feedback / experience anyone else has that has had this happen to them.

As SoundSource installation updates and redirects the various audio devices and sound levels, there seems no surprise that any there would be some transient audio effects if audio is playing during installation. So sorry I cannot say I have encountered this before. I don’t see that that necessarily leads to speaker damage.

Yea agreed it doesn’t really surprise me either so to speak, just didn’t even think about it since I had music playing while I was installing a bunch of programs on the new computer and this one came up on the list :X

I did do some sound quality comparisons between this new 16” 2021 MBP and my 14” 2017 and it sounded noticeably better, so I guess that’s a good sign!
