I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for speakers to get for my new 24" Imac. On my PC I had the Klipsh pro-logic 5.1 Digital but that was just overkill, very nice sound but just too much, I'm gettting older and my hearing is precious to me now :). I was considering the Altec Lansing FX-6021.

Or the Altec Lansing FX-4021

Or the Logitech Z-4

I think sound is important as well as asthetics. Anyone own any of these and could share their opinions on them? Also anyone know if there is just like a USB subwoofer deal cause I really like it now that there is so much free space on my desk with the Imac.

Thanks.

What about the Logitech Z10 (i know it doesnt have subwoofer, but it is USB). There are no USB 2.1's that i know of. If i had to pick of the 3, i would just get the Logitechs, as they are the cheapest and offer decent sound. Although the ALTEC LANSING FX4021 is nice in the looks department.

I was considering the EDIT: (FX6021's) they do look real nice. Does anyone know if they are actually brushed aluminum or just painted plastic? Also when I was talking about USB I was talking about a USB stand alone Subwoofer, I like the sound that the speakers on the Imac put out but it doesnt have the lows that I would prefer.

go for the Altec Lansing FX-6021s, nice speakers.

That's what I meant I just edited it. I've been reading reviews on the apple site and alot of people seem to like them. The price is a bit steep but I guess you get what you pay for right!

Personally, i love the speakers i have for my computer [the Yamaha YST-MS201 model 2.1 set], but my friend had the Alien looking ones and they also sound really good.

For me i just wanted something that sounded great and was cheap, and for $20 via eBay; i think i got a good deal.

Ya, they're really nice, and I'm pretty sure they are wireless.

Personally, I am a fan of the B&W Nautilus speakers. And yes, these do beat the Soundsticks aesthetically, as well as in any other way, and by a long shot.

If you have to ask, you can't afford them. ;)
(about thirty-four grand)

They are bigger than they look in the photo.

Yeah I figured that much! I saw some on ebay like the previous model and they were like 2k used.

If you just want 2.1's, I haven't read a bad review of the Logitech Z-2200's.

I haven't checked into the connector interface/Mac compatibility yet but you might check them out.

You can get them for about $100 on the web.

Why don't you take a look at the JBL speakers? I just got the jbl spot speakers and they are great!!!!!!!

i vote for jbl too. i have been using the creature speakers from them for about 2 years and i really like the sound quality. (don't know if it matters, but the newspaper here in dallas uses them at their video workstations too)

Too bad you can't buy them anymore but the Altec Lansing 2100 matches perfectly and sounds great for 2.1 speakers

2100's

Good lord... I love Bowers & Wilkins speakers, I wish I could afford them, not even the entry level 686's are in my price range

To the OP, have you considered Bose Companion 3?? I have them they sound ok and have the bass you want.
