I am contemplating getting a Mac mini with TB display, and I read that TB display has builtin camera and microphone but it does not say any thing about type or quality of speakers.
Or do I need to invest in external speakers...
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Thunderbolt display has speakers; albeit not very good ones. I'd recommend starting with just the thunderbolt display speakers and see what you think before spending money on speakers though.

The Mini also has *quite nice* integrated speakers.

In the end, the TBD are absolutely okay for YouTube videos and background music now and then. When you want to *listen* to your music, you'll have to spend some hundred bucks on top anyways. I'm just listening to my Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 which are as great as on the first day - if you can spend that amount of money, I can heavily recommend them!
