In Germany the retailer Gravis offers a special model of the Mac Mini 1,4 GHz I5 CPU, 4 GB Ram with a 250 GB SSD (https://www.gravis.de/Notebooks-und...GHz-4-GB-RAM-Sondermodell-mit-250-GB-SSD.html)

This was also mentioned in the German MacMini Forum (https://www.macmini-forum.de/t/mac-mini-als-sondermodell-bei-gravis/26205).

In that Forum people were wondering about this special model: Is it a special build for the Gravis-Company, did Gravis change the Standard MacMini themselves ore does Apple give the new model a Try-Out in the Gravis-Retail.

Might this realy be a Apple-Try-Out for the new models?

I didn't suggest that you write an email.

Call them!! tel:+49-30-39022-222

Just did that:
They change the base-mini themselves (sell them for 649 Euro; the Apple-Price-tag for the base-Mini in Europe: 569 Euro); I wondered about warranty: They have their own 3-year-"care"-Programm: 59,99 Euro (cheaper than Apple-Care: 89,- Euro for the Macmini).

Do they exchange the sata hdd for a sata sdd?
or do they remove the hdd and add a pcie one?

Also: the base mini can usually be had for 399€ at saturn or mediamarkt nightsales if you look out for them. Or try idealo.de -> mac mini to compare prices.

They use a SATA-SSD.

They use a SATA-SSD.
That's why the upgrade is relatively cheap.

Just get the mini for 399€ from Saturn/Mediamarkt, buy a 256ssd for 60 or 70 € and swap it yourself.

You'll have the same mini for almost 200€ less.

I guess what makes this special is that you can't get an SSD base model MM from Apple even with BTO/CTO.

But they sure are charging a lot to install a SATA SSD.
