hey, when running disk utility i get the following lines:

using special permissions for
./library/colorsync/profiles/displays new permissions 16893
./library/colorsync/profile new permissions 16893

i've read other threads on this and haven't seen this particular one come up before... and after reading the following link i'm nervous! :(

little help?

Unless Disk Utility reports that it actually changes permissions (because they were wrong) those are just warnings to inform you that those files uses a special permission. Nothing to worry about.

And I wouldn't loose to much sleep over that report, either. On a Mac you're relatively safe, with just a couple of precautions (in part mentioned in the article):
* Keep current backup of all data you cannot afford loosing
* Run Software Update regularly to keep your system up-to-date
* Keep the Firewall running (System Preferences -> Sharing)
* Use common sense:
- do not frequent dodgy websites
- do not open any e-mail/IM-attachments you don't know what is

Follow those easy instructions and you should be as safe as you can online... :)

If you've later upgraded to 10.3.9 (manually download or thorugh Software Update) that should include all earlier Security Updates. Again nothing to worry about... :)
