of course...
older PPC games will no longer work at all.
Some current Intel OSX games will break and need patches... though most should run fine.
Many future games will come out as Lion only, as developers will kill off support for Snow Leopard and earlier... Lion has a newer version of OpenGL available which may help out game makers, but leave things incompatible for earlier versions if fully used.
Graphics driver updates will become Lion only... meaning the latest and greatest performance will eventually only be in Lion. Just like right now game performance in Snow Leopard is much better than it is in Leopard.
With the release of Lion getting ever closer will it affect Mac specific games ?
I have already lost all my favourite games. In fact, as far as I can see I'm left with Settlers 7, Trainz and Civ IV. Not sure about Neverwinter 2 - Neverwinter 1 is definitely out. I haven't checked things like Klondike yet.
all of those will run in a VM... most will run with Wineskin, but can be more tricky to get going.Regrettably we lose quite a few timeless classics. A few examples: Age of Empires 2, Rise of Nations, Diablo 2, Starcraft, Civilization 3, etc.
wow... I'd never consider dual booting Windows to be "hassle-free" ... I guess to some people it would be, to me thats a MAJOR MAJOR hassle. If you still want to play those classics in a way that's also hassle-free, IMO, best solution is get the Windows versions & play them in Boot Camp, or just get a gaming PC.

I'm on Lion and I'm running NWN2. But it runs poorly and has a tendency to crash sometimes. Runs at pretty much everything maxed besides shadows at medium cause they don't matter, AA off, and 1280x800. Still a tiny bit of slowdown during big battles. Pity too, cause I'm on a high end 15" machine with an AMD 6750m, and a native res of 1680x1050
