I'm wondering specifically

WHAT processor is actually inside the new imacs

the i5 that's in the quad-core

and the i7 that's in the quad-core.

if anyone knows, what kind of gains are there, let's say in a benchmark test

for going for the i7 over the i5.

3.6GHz i5 (dual core) = i5-680
2.8GHz i5 (quad core) = i5-760
2.93GHz i7 (quad core) = i7-870

i7 supports Hyper-Threading while quad core i5 does not, that's the biggest difference.

Review and benchmarks (includes i5-750 and i7-870 so they aren't exactly the same as in iMac but the difference between i5-750 and 760 is only 133MHz which is like 5% so you get the idea of the difference in performance)
