iPhone Spectrum TV App

Well I was using a LT2P VPN Server that is at my house to watch local TV while I travel. On my devices I would I simply connect to the VPN (with iOS native VPN application) and then launch the Spectrum TV app and the TV app would allow all channels as if I was home. This worked on my iPad as well as my iPhone. However a recent Update to the Spectrum TV the app now displays a “Disable VPN to Continue.” This app doesn’t support VPN. Reference Code: IFE-1002. Yes my native vpn application in iOS is set to send all traffic over the VPN. Like I said this was working just fine until the recent update. Does anyone have any idea how Spectrum is finding out I’m routing all traffic through my VPN Server at home (ISP is spectrum there)? A current workaround I have is going through safari with their spectrum tv website. Any insight is appreciated. I have been guided that the app may be able to detect TTL however if that's the case I don't think those TTL can be adjusted in iOS.
