I noticed September is when iPods see new updates every year. They have not changed the form factor of any of the iPods the last two years. Any possibility on change? I'm mostly interested in the iPod nano and the classic.

I would like see to a thinner, nicer classic. I regret getting rid of my white 5g ipod video couple years ago.

My current "wild guess" for the next iPods are:

1) iPod shuffle--will stay the same form factor but will go to 4 GB and 8 GB versions.

2) iPod nano--will stay the same form factor but storage capacity will now be 16 and 32 GB flash memory. I'm hoping for a slight increase in thickness to accommodate a better video camera and a rechargeable battery with longer life per charge (maybe up to 35 hours per charge).

3) iPod classic--possibly phased out, but could switch to a larger 16:10 aspect ratio screen with higher resolution with smaller click wheel and either 160 GB hard disk or 128 GB flash memory.

4) iPod touch--will be based on 4th generation iPhone (including iPhone OS 4.0), with storage capacities of 32, 64 and 128 GB flash memory.

I'm dying for a 32 GB nano. I think the current nano form factor is perfection, and 32 GB is pretty much guaranteed since it's been frozen with a 16 GB cap for two years now.

I currently have red and orange 16 GB 5th gens and about 11.5 GB of music so I'm not dying storage-wise, but I know a 32 GB one in the current form factor would keep me happy for years.

Trying so hard not to break down and buy a green one everyday.

i really really hope not. imho the classic is the greatest ipod apple has come out with. simple, functional, HUGE storage capacity. i guess nanos and touch's are ok, but i just want an ipod to keep all my music, movies, and pictures.
