So I have a 3g, its on yellowsnow/cydia and I use a T-mobile sim. I have used it since Jan 2009.

Past 2 months it has become VERY SLOW. At times it freezes (sometimes on the facebook app) and I have to keep the off key pressed for a loooong time to get it off and restart it.

Is there a way to fix this problem ?

Thank you

If you are new to JB, then you might be experiencing "crashes" for the first time. Depending on whether you are using Springboard or Winterboard, the crashes are pretty much the same. I find when I'm using my car charger and I forget to unplug from the charger that seems to trigger a crash. It's frustrating to go through and reset all the icons, but that's just one of the downsides to JB. Since I went to 3.0 I've not experienced a crash of an app yet. So, hopefully that's a good sign for the iPhone Dev Team's JB for 3.0....Good luck, patience is a good thing!:cool::cool:

I had the same problem.

I jail broke a while ago just to get tethering, which was worth a small slowdown. It eventually got so slow, I started to wonder if it was worth it. Well it wasn't, I un-jail broke and went to the 3.0 (which is awesome and FAST), so I am waiting to the ability to tether in 3.0.

Basically, jail breaking = slowdown. Ask yourself if it's worth it. If it's not, I would un-jailbreak, then unlock, not jailbreak, but unlock. Keep in mind iTunes 8.2, AT&T 2.1(I think), and iPhone 3.0 is some way, "fix" the ability to jailbreak.

At the least, try to delete everything JB.

Were you running Winterboard or any springboard attachments?

Isn't it the daemon/service-type applications that cause problems more than the jailbreak itself? For instance, installing Five Icon Dock, Taskbar Notifications, and the like also installs MobileSubstrate, which is always running in the background. Then there's WinterBoard, SSH, and a slew of other things trying to cram into 128MB of memory at all times.

When 3.0's jailbreak comes out I'm gonna try running on a bare minimum with no background apps (not even SSH, I'll use something like DiskAid to access the iPhone partition) and see if slowdown still happens.
