Speedtest.net App Issue

The Speedtest.net App for my iPhone (3.0 Firmware) shows very slow speeds on my home WiFi network. I have 10Meg Cable Internet and on hard wired computer and wireless laptop routinely get the 10Megs. Yet on my iPhone rarely do I get 5 Megs, most of the time I get around 2 Meg speeds, according to the Speedtest App. And this is with my iPhone right next to my wireless router. Anyone else having the same issues?

I get 13 Mbps over wifi on my iPhone, about 25 feet away from my router and through several walls. Sounds like it may be an issue with your router or your settings.

I don't think the issue is with my router when all my other computers using my home WiFi get the full 10Megs.

Just ran another speed test on my iPhone and now it keeps showing a download speed of .32Mbps. For crying out load, my upload speed is faster than my download speed! What is going on?

No, it's not your router as you said. There have been some issues with the 3GS having wifi problems, so maybe you need to return it. However, you should try resetting network settings to see if that fixes it and if not do a DFU restore.

I don't have a 3GS, I have the 3G and it used to show much better download speeds, not the full 10 Megs but better than I am getting now.

I installed the dslreports.com speed test App and it even showed better download speeds than the SpeedTest.net App. Dslreports just said I am getting around 6Meg speeds and SpeedTest said I am now getting 1Meg.

This proves to me that something is wrong with the SpeedTest.net App, so I deleted it and reinstalled it but nothing changed.

When clocking your iPhones wifi on speedtest, it totally depends on which server you use, I used to have the same concerns as I was maxing out at about 5 megs, where I often get about 30 megs from my laptop hardwired to my modem, but now that I've figured out which servers give the best results, I now see my iPhone can reach about 13 megs on a good server at a good time of the day. The speakeasy Atlanta server seems to be consistently fast.

Yes, I assumed the OP was using the same server on his iPhone and his computer. If not, then all bets are off.

Yes I was using a server from the same area on both apps and computers. Today though, Speedtest.net downloads jumped up to 6 and 7 Megs for my iPhone. So now it seems to be showing the same as the dslreports.net App, But still not as fast as my other computers. Still seems to me that the iPhone should get the same download speeds as my computers.

For the last several days now SpeedTest seems to have been showing similiar speeds as the DSLR Speed Test App. So I guess it is working correctly now.

I still don't understand why my iPhone doesn't give me the same speeds as my Laptop or Desktop computers (the full 10 Meg).
