Spent a lot of time with all the apple laptops. After 90 minutes or so I drove to my hotel, fired up my IBM t60p and my gawd, the screen on this IBM completely blows chunks.

I found that the 15" LED backlit screen with glossy cover on the MBP was my favorite. Followed closely by the MBA 13" screen. MBP w/ matte screen 3rd with the lowly MB coming in last.

But my IBM 15" screen is so much worse than anything apple is offering. Shockingly worse. Once WWDC hits, I hope for a MBA update as that is the model that fits my needs best. But that 15" pro is mighty attractive as well.

Decisions, decisions....

It's more likely that we'll see a MacBook Pro update than a MacBook Air one, and even then, there's really less than a 10% chance that the Pros will be updated.

3G iPhone and the MacTablet are the WWDC fare this year.

Also, for what it's worth, I had a 10 min youtube video playing on three different MBA's and I had no crazy shut downs or anything. Yes, they got hot under the CPU. But, no apparent performance issues.

Are the screens on the MB really that bad?!

I always thought so, especially after comparing to the iMacs, the ACDs and the MBPs. The screen just looks so washed out compared to everything else. Not only that, but when I go to an electronics store I find that there's quite a few PC manufacturers who have even better looking screens than the glossy MBPs. I always find the Sony VAIO laptops looks especially amazing - so colourful, crisp and sharp!

In all fairness though there could be issues of screen calibration / colour profiles with Mac OS compared to Windows. For example on my MBP I always had the TV gamma set in the colour profile - I thought it looked far better and less washed out. But of course all this is personal preference!

If it helps, my friend's got an MBA and he finds, that despite the screen being amazingly bright, no matter how much he messes around with the colour profile he just can't get the colours to look how he wants them.

The IBMs aren't that bad, provided you're blindfolded in a room with no light and the screen is off.

Gawd no! mine is visually stunning, best laptop screen I have ever seen,:) now I have to visit the Apple store in the International Mall and check out a MBA and MBP 15" screens;)

No, don't do it! You're happy with your blackbook. I am truly sorry if I end up being the guy that planted any seeds of discontent!

If the MBP 15 glossy is a 10, the MBP 15 matte is a 9, the MBA is a 9 (due to being smaller) and the MB is an 8. My IBM is a 4.

Maybe that's a better way for me to describe it.
