So I ordered and received the Spigen Tough Armor case for the Ipad Mini Retina last week and have had a few days to try it out.

I bought the case through Amazon and received it in a few days. This was the Spigen "store" and the Blue was available via Amazon and cheaper than buying from the Spigen site or ebay.

Overall the case is thin, and lightweight, it does add a little weight though nothing substantial. And I hit the gym 4 to 5 days a week, so the added ounces I don't really notice!:D

The Blue is really subdued and overall not really noticeable. I read a review about it being a fingerprint magnet. Two things, is does hold fingerprints, and I think it depends on how sweaty and or oily your skin is. Pretty much like any other case.

The case comes in a simple package.

The backing plate, in this case the blue part comes off. And I read prior to buying to remove the backing plate and then place the ipad into the rubber piece. I can confirm that is indeed, the easiest way to install the ipad, as it allows for flexing the rubber around the ipad.

Side view, no ipad installed.

Inside, all cut outs and rubber control covers match up perfect.

Ipad installed, lightening port is has no problem with access.

The back with the ipad. I personally don't care for the logo cut out. I know I have an Apple product. I really don't want to advertise the fact.

This is how much "heft" the Tough Armor add overall. Spigen says millimeters, and I'd have to agree. For a "tough case", this thing is thin. I had a Gum Drop armor case and it was real thick!

So overall, for a tough case on the cheap side, I'd recommend the Spigen.
All ports are easy to access, the buttons work well, camera and speaker cut outs are spot on as with the charging slot.
I also picked up a Zagg screen protector and plan on placing it soon.

I wish they would lose that silly cutout for the Apple logo. How impractical/vain do they think we are!? oh wait...

Any plans for an ipad Air version? Wish they had a Neo Hybrid version for the ipads.

Update:

I applied the Zagg screen protector let it set for roughly 24 hours and placed the case back on.

Case is pushing the protector in 2 corners. :(

Never used a Zagg before, can these be "re installed" if it continues to peel?

No.
