hello,

i have a wonderful sounding pair of etymotic earphones...

i have this wonderful iphone, with a recessed jack...

and i have the included ipod earbuds, with that neato microphone...

-perhaps i can take my etymotic earphones and splice them in place of the ipod apple earphones?

the wiring should be the same.. right?

if i wanted them done proffesionally, who would i go to?

thanks,

Splicing headphone cables is not much fun...definitely find someone with skill and practice. The wires are small and often coated (not plastic insulated) making things really annoying. If you try it yourself you'll probably end up frustrated. Someone who knows what they're doing with a little heatshrink may be able to do a nice job, but it'll never be perfect.

umm no, don't do that. It'll never be the same, and more than likely you'll mess it up, unless you have done this before, or do it often.

I had a problem with my sure E2c's and I took a knife and cut off some of the rubber around the connector and works great.

I have ripped apart the head apple phones, and there are the different, they have a thicker wire thats for the mic/button the inside wire and outer wire wrapped around it. The button is actually a way to short circuit the mic line, and the iPhone has smarts in it to detect this short and interprets it as a a button click.

Ear bud replacement

I followed the instructions on this kids You tube video
and it worked perfect. I have never done any thing like it and it was easy.
Now I have ear buds I like and stay in my ears an the mic and buttons all work fine.
