Hi guys,

I have a large InDesign document (1680mm x 594mm) that I need to split into 4 separate files (so each file is then A2).

Is there a way to do this within InDesign itself?

I can easily load a PDF into Photoshop and do it that way (and then save them as individual PDFs) but I'm not sure if the subsequent quality to decrease.

Much appreciated.

I think this can only be done manually.

Draw two guides in the centre point of the page (horizontally and vertically) where you want the page to tile. Import your image into a window the full size of the page and position your picture within it. When you're happy with it, copy and Paste in Place (in edit menu) three times. If you find it easier, put each image on a separate layer.

Select each of images individually and pull a corner anchor point (not the same one each time!) to the centre point of the page. The image windows will now be A2. Then copy and paste the four image windows into a new A2 document, one for each page.

If you want to do the same thing with a complex document with lots of text and images, do exactly the same thing but export your file first as a PDF then import it back in again. The principle will be the same.
