I'm contemplating jailbreaking my iPhone. I had an iPod touch and was constantly messing with it, jailbreaking, modifying this, installing that; and now would like to do the same with my phone, but to a safer degree.

One thing that I always did with my iPod touch was to combine the music and movies apps into the iPod app with a modification of a couple of plists. Is it possible to do the reverse? as in on the iPhone split the iPod app into a music app and a video app. And is there a way to do this with just SSH'ing or do I need a separate app?
Also, I haven't been jailbreaking for a few months so I'm sure things have progressed pretty far. What's the cleanest way to jailbreak. As in all I want to do is be able to SSH into the iPhone in order to mess with the right plists. I don't want installer or cydia installed. If the clean way I want isn't easily accessible is it easy to remove whatever the jailbreak installs?

Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to be as clear as possible.

Thanks in advanced!

I'd quite like an answer too! There's a package on Cydia for iPod Touches that merges them but nothing to split them for iPhone! Annoyance!

(1) If Video is its own application, you can get to your videos with one click, instead of going ipod -> video (2 clicks).

(2) It frees up space in the iPod app dock for another icon -- right now I have playlist, album, artist, video, more. The spot being occupied by "video" could be given to songs, genres, podcast, etc.

Is it really that big a deal to click twice?

If you want to switch from audio to video, or vice-versa, you'll just have to do that anyway...

That's not why. I just liked the way it looked more. I don't need to do it, I was just curious. I'm also going to change my dock to look like the iPod touch's reflective one and change my carrier to 'iPod'.... really my goal is just to make it look like an iPod touch.... just for nostalgic purposes.
