Spoiled by "retina" display

Yeah. Before getting my iPhone 4 I thought the iPad had one of the best screens I ever laid eyes on. Now when I look at it all I see are pixels.

Yes the iPhone 4 screen is exceptional but I can't find myself reading a book on a iPhone 4, 3.5" screen.

And yes, I do own an iPhone 4.

Got my new iPhone yesterday. Very nice, but I'm still drawn to use my iPad for anything non-phone-related that takes more than a few seconds. After all, the iPad still has more pixels, even if they're not as tightly packed.

I'm so not getting a new iPhone. My 3GS is hardly getting used as it is. Why bother? Especially after reading this thread, I have no interest.

To all the Retina display whiners, please use the search feature and whine in those threads and stop making more and more useless threads about nothing.

The retina display is beautiful but it in no way does it make my iPad display look primitive. IMO a high PPI screen like retina display only really matters on small screen devices.

I view my iPad from farther away than my iPhone. So it is almost a retina display. I hope the iPad gets one of those soon though (also that would have nearly as many pixels as a 27" display)

Having used both devices, I WOULD like to see the Retina display on the iPad, it would be totally awesome with that amount of screen estate.

Lol! This pretty much sums it up. Ooohhh look CNN.com text looks so sharp, wait let me squint to see what it's saying, ooohh look how sharp it looks. Man the more I hear about the retina display the more I realize how much of a freakin marketing genius Steve Jobs is, he's the PT Barnum of our day.

Wrong. While the technology currently is only feasible on small screens, ideally, every display should be retina. We should NEVER be able to see a pixel. Pixels are little squares of color that, when placed together, form an image. When we are able to see the squares, it ruins the illusion. Basically, if you see a pixel, they blew it.

However, calling the iPad inferior because it doesn't have a retina display is ridiculous since NO OTHER consumer device over 3.5" has it. The ipad already has a higher pixel density than any MacBook Pro and iMac you can buy. The problem with current OSes is that text gets smaller when resolution increases. This should not be the case. Text should only get sharper.
