Spontaneous restart

I have a late 2013 iMac running ML. Please don't get on me about not having the latest OS, I have my reasons, i.e. legacy software that won't run on newer OS. OK, now that we have that out of the way, here's my problem.
Yesterday, my iMac spontaneously restarted. I wasn't in the room and by the time I got there I was facing the login screen so don't know if any error messages came up.
There was nothing in crash reports in the Library.
In Console I saw the reason for the shutdown was a code 5 which is a normal shutdown via the Apple menu. No one was in the room so no one at home could have initiated the shutdown.
This code 5 bothers me. Is there any possibility that my iMac was hijacked and the shutdown initiated over the network? Our network is password protected but...

It seems that your iMac crashed and restarted it self...highly doubt you were "hijacked." You didn't have any ports in your network open, like VPN did you? Did you have firewall turned on in System preference > Security & privacy > firewall > firewall on? I have seen crashes like that (what you described)...a lot with El Capitan.

Yes, firewall was on.

I don't have a VPN. Would the Time Capsule, that functions both as our router and Time Machine backup be considered an open port?

I also noticed in Console that about 2 minutes prior to the "crash", there was a bug detected in Contacts. Do you think there would be any relationship there? I have been having a lot of instances where Contacts freezes and I have to Force Quit it.

So does a code 5 reason for shutdown not always mean what it's supposed to mean, i.e. a normal shutdown from the Apple menu??

So first off no your mac wasn't hijacked.

Second if it only happened once this doesn't represent an issue. If it happens again, or starts happening often, then worry.

Shutdown cause 5 only means the computer believes it was shutdown correctly. It is not proof positive of how it was shutdown. Don't get overly concerned about one random shutdown.
