Am I the only one whose OCD hates the asymmetrical look of sports loops? They are very comfortable but the end that loops around always looks so “chunky” compared to the other end. I wear it for a day then it goes back into the drawer.

I’ve really tried to like loops but they’re not for me. Love the colors though but I just find them uncomfortable actually. And yes, I’m also not a fan of the bulkier end.

Yeah I was not a fan of the loop for a long time. But, I tried one about 2 months ago and now I’m a convert. They are just so dang comfortable and, as others have said, the looped side flattens out after 1-2 weeks of regular wear. I still think they are the most casual looking band (I would never wear one to work for example). But they are also far and away the most comfortable and breathable - perfect for working from home or doing things around the house during lockdown.

And, thanks to the threads in this forum, I’m already up to 3 loops in 2 months. You guys are a bunch of pushers! 😄

So someone gave me the best tip ever for sport loops if you wear them pretty consistently at the same tightness. When you take it off, mark the spot where it folds, fold it at that position and put it into a book with a bunch Of other books on top to add weight, and leave for a bit. It works a charm and while the loop can still be seen, it’s much flatter. I usually leave mine overnight after my first wearing and then it’s pretty much good to go. I think the same effect is achieved by wearing them for a while - this just hurries the process along.

I have one legit loop(seashell that i got for 10 bucks in box), and 5 knockoffs I bought 2 days after I first got my watch, before I knew about this place and saw the light :) The knockoffs are without a doubt, knockoffs, they don’t lock into the watch quite as nicely, and the asymmetry doesnt go down after a day or two. The real deal is softer, fits better, and the bulk does smooth out as you wear it and it learns to fold flat. There were be a few things I will be forced by finances to buy knockoffs of (apple employee close your rings sport loop comes to mind), but I have resolved to buy mostly OEM bands and loops going forward.
One thing that troubles me, is that people say they get nasty and gross if you wear them for workouts, so I have been swapping in one of my sport bands in for exercising and then back to the sport loop afterwards. This may make the process of flattening out these knockoffs a lot longer. I wish I could wear them when exercising, but I am a heavy and salty sweater, so they would likely get disgusting unless i put them in the wash every time i exercised.

This is my summit white knockoff. I also have indigo, spearmint, teal tint, and some blue variant I do not know exactly the name of.

That’s a great tip, thanks! I’ll give it a try.

That’ll help me “unsee” the stupid bulge. 😁

Get a color you like, and a few days and you’ll forget about it! Plus as others have said, the chunkier side will start to lay flat. Not as clean looking as the other side, but, I think the style just takes some getting used to. I love them, totally different from sport bands, so it’s a nice style change.

One more question: Apologies for getting gross but I get a lot of sweat on my watch when I workout every day. I typically wash my wash and sport band daily so it doesn’t become nasty. Do you all wash your sport loops then leave it out to dry? Throw it in the washing machine weekly?

I sometimes will hand wash a sport loop band but mostly I just throw them into the washing machine. My bands dry VERY quickly here in Florida.

I just wash them while washing my hands, they dry really fast and do not drip after squeezing. But since the pandemic started I wear mostly fluoroelastomer sport bands, they are easier to clean.

I add some soap while I'm in the shower.

Not a good idea if you're wearing your watch while you do this. Soap and your Watch are not friends.

Agree about the Sport Bands being easier to clean. I wear those when I leave the house (very infrequently) and take off the band/disinfect it and switch bands when I return. I’ve gone back to wearing my Sport Loops at home/exercising and switching them out every day. The sport loops are just so much more comfortable in the heat.

I didn't like the asymmetrical look at first but got over it as I wore it and discovered how comfortable it was. As someone else pointed out, loops are the "sweatpants" of Apple Watch bands in terms of comfort. As for washing them, I toss mine in a mesh bag, throw it in with the laundry and let them air dry. They're almost dry when they come out of the washing machine as is. Pretty simple cleaning.

To each their own but I don’t have a problem with lopsided-ness. They are my primary band because they are so comfortable and offer the best fit adjustment. The elastomeric band feels nice but is either too tight or too loose. I love the leather loop for its elegant simplicity and fit but never use it outside of work since I don’t want to find out how it holds up to massive amounts of sweat and heat.

I don't even bother with a mesh bag. :)

I don't see how a watch band could possibly be symmetrical, unless it wasn't adjustable at all and the clasp was magnetic.

The sport loop is literally one the best bands they have come up with. Sure its made with very cheap materials, priced at the same price as the sport band for no reason, but its very stylish.

I love the idea they have with the "double colours" now. Lightweight and breathable too! I should stop here... its starting to sound like an ad lol!
