Spotify using High Performance graphics on MBP

Hi,

I have an issue with Spotify using High Perf graphics on my MBP - but only when it's on battery (?). When plugged in it seems to use integrated. This severely affects my battery life...

Is there any way to stop it doing so? On looking into activity monitor, it seems to be "Spotify Helper" use it.

Well, there was that gfxCardStatus that could force internal GPU only, however it does not work with the latest MBPs or Sierra (forgot wich one was it). There is a branch that does support it, but it's not developed by the original programmer Cody Krieger and is potentially dangerous, so I wouldn't recommend it (although it does work).

The best way is to contact Spotify. It's up to the App Developer to prevent dedicated GPU from activating in the code. It's easy, they just have to do it. So, write to them and hope they do (it's easier with smaller developers as they listen to feedback, Spotify probably has this planned for some who-knows-when future update).

I have a Late 2013 MPB with the dedicated GPU on Sierra and it works fine. Ditto for my father's new 2016 MBP. It may not be officially supported, but the app seems to work just fine...

I can't seem to get it to work on mine? Even when I select 'integrated only', it still says 'high perf.' on activity monitor - although gfxcardstatus says its on intergrated.
