I can't search anything on the web with Spotlight either -- because I've purposely disabled all of those things in Spotlight settings!

When they added "Spotlight Suggestions" and other web searching through Spotlight, they completely hobbled what had been an exceptional local search application and app launcher. What used to take a half-second to find and launch any application on a Mac using command-spacebar, or to simply find a local file, now takes up to a full minute because Spotlight no longer has a reasonable scope of the local drive, but instead now has a scope of the entire Web! Sorry, but that's what your browser and Google are for, not the local search application. I really hope that Apple either removes web content from Spotlight in future Mac OS versions, or, if they want to do search that bad, adds Siri to the Mac OS and moves Web search to that instead of Spotlight.

Windows is no better. With Windows 10, Microsoft took what was a great local search and app launcher and hobbled it all as well by wrapping it all into Cortana. Again, local search and searching the entire web are different things and trying to incorporate them both into the same application results in a miserable experience for both.
