Okay, so I have a 2010 Macbook Pro, 13.3 inch with 10.6.8.
It seems like every time I make a file in textedit or edit one, then try to find it later, I can't. Every few days the file will show back up. I guess this means it's indexing, but there's no indication of that on my laptop by the Spotlight section.
In particular, I'm trying to find a file I either made or edited the other day. I can't remember which it was, so I tried searching with specific terms that I knew I used in "Contents" through Finder.
Unfortunately, nothing is showing up. Is there a way I can make everything re-index itself? I followed the method I read on another forum saying to go to the System Preferences --> Spotlight --> Privacy --> Adding a folder to privacy --> Then removing it
But there's no indication it's re-indexing or anything.
Is there an alternate free program that will let me check the contents of everything on my laptop? What do I do if it still doesn't show up?
