Spotlight forever stuck on Indexing?

Just got a new MBP 16 and the indexing for spotlight is just stuck/not working. the progress bar has been stuck on 5% or so. I've tried adding the main HD as an exclusion to the spotlight search list, restarting, and then re-adding it. It didn't work. Have updated to all the macos software also.

How long has the indexing been running? It can take quite a while.

It's been almost a week now...

Mine has been indexing since September 2020 and I'm worried that if I stop it now it'll have to start again.
