Morning all,
I have a very strange problem with Spotlight (well I assume it is Spotlight that is the problem)....
Here is my set-up:
MBP 13" Mid 2012 (9,2)
8GB RAM
750GB HDD (patitioned Macintosh HD (100GB) & Music (650GB)
750GB HDD in Optical Drive Bay (partitioned External Music (650GB) & Data (100GB))
Both the Music and External Music partitions have +250GB of free space and both have approximately 3000 music files on each.
The issue I have is that Spotlight doesn't seem to index recently added files... I use the search function a lot when I am putting DJ mixes together to find tracks, old and new, but not every track appears when I search even though if I browse directly to the file it is there.
I have tried rebuilding the Spotlight search DB... deleting the old one and then leaving my laptop on for days in the hope that it will continue to index in the background, but it is still missing items.
I would hate to have to rebuild my machine, I have it configured application wise just how I want it but I'm not sure that just blowing away the OS will fix issues with indexing on the other partitions.
Is there a 3rd Party Searching tool that I could maybe demo to see if it has the same issue? Or does that use OS X Indexing at its "heart"?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Jon
