And again Spotlight is not working on Monterey. Had exactly the same issue with Big Sur but then fixed it by doing this
sudo mdutil -Ea
sudo mdutil -ai off
sudo mdutil -ai on

Now Monterey is installed and when using spotlight search nothing is displayed. No search results. Very annoying. Ran those commands worked for 2 minutes and then again no search results... ARGGHHH why is this always happening to spotlight search. Did the regular also adding hard drive and removing it to spotlight in system preferences. No results

I'm only now discovering that Spotlight isn't working in Monterey. It's returning results from everything except my user folder, which is where nearly everything I want to search for exists. I've already rebuilt the index. No luck.

Edit: In case anyone else runs into an issue with Spotlight results in the User folder, rebuilding /System/Volumes/Data worked. I previously just rebuilt /, which doesn't include user data.

Spotlight is working for me in general (12.0.1 on MBP 2017) but I have had two issues:
- the Spotlight query field once became unresponsive. I could select it and type but no text would appear in the search field. A restart fixed this.
- the more annoying bug is that if I seach for an app, e.g. Terminal, and start to type "ter" I see that "Terminal.app" appears autocompleted for a second and then disappears again the the search field displays "ter" once more.

the former I've experienced once; the latter many times, and it vexes me (12.0.1 on MBA 2020).

spotlight is really sucking for me on monterrey

In preferences I narrowed down to only app results and even then it gives me no results or the wrong results. I just use it for as a quick app launcher and it fails almost every time.

Have been losing my mind trying to fix Spotlight in Monterey (thought it was Outlook at first so uninstalled and reinstalled that, tried a number of other things over 5 hours of slowly going insane). The steps that worked for you in Big Sur fixed it for me in Monterey.

Actually found your post just as I gave up and started a chat with AppleCare 🤦‍♂️
