Hi,

This is one I'll blame on "old age".

I do a Save to Desktop of a Spreadsheet, or a WORD Doc., or other Files, but
like I've mentioned previously, often it doesn't appear there.

But if i do a Spotlight Search, it (Spotlight) usually finds it, and i can drag what
comes up to my Desktop.

Question: How do I get Spotlight, or where should i be looking in what comes
up after the Spotlight search, to
see where Spotlight actually found it ?

Doesn't seem to be any info given as to where it found it, but
I'm sure I'm just missing it.

Thanks
Bob

Select the item in Spotlight, then Command-click on it to reveal the location.

Hi,

Thanks for help.

Just tried the CMD-Click, and don't see the Spotlight location info. where it found the file.
anywhere.

Where should i look for it, after doing the cmd-click ?

Thanks again,
Bob

If you're running in Mojave, mouse over the item in spotlight that you want a path for. If you hold Command while mousing over the item, in the preview window to the right it will show the path to the file at the bottom of the preview.

Command click didn't work for me either. ;)

I'm on El Cap, so, might not be relevant, but, bottom of the Finder window shows the path.

Or can go to the Context Menu (aka, right-click) on the entry and do a "Show enclosing Folder" or "Get Info".

Or if you have a cog/gear on the tool bar of the Finder window, can click that and get the Context Menu.

And in either Context Menu, can select "Copy" and then do the Cmd-Opt-V to move from the folder to the Desktop.
