Spotlight Search on home screen

is there a way to disable the spotlight search screen on the springboard? I loved that it was only a pull down in iOS 8. Am I missing something?

Don't think there's any way to disable the search screen but you still have the pull down search too, so is it much of an issue? I like the new screen but I hate having to go all the way back to the home screen to get to it though

Yeah, I hate having it on the springboard cause I typically swipe back and forth quickly and don't have to worry about swiping into the search screen. It seems silly to have both of them (I like the pull down better too).
