Spotlight server disabling itself

I have been having troubles with spotlight server disabling itself for no reason. I realized it when Alfred couldn't find any of my apps. I turned it back on yesterday via terminal and today it is disabled again. I fixed permissions but that was no help. Is there a fix for this I missed?

I enabled it this afternoon and now once again it is disabled for no reason at all.

How did you enable it?

You could try:

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

That is the command I keep having to use to get it to work again.

if you are just using spotlight data for alfred, you could try:

sudo mdutil -a -i on
