Cloned internal HD to external, booted up from the external drive and spotlight kicked in its indexing activity, but I did not see the usual dot in the spotlight icon at the top right menu bar. Is this a bug or one of the new features?
See the attached jpeg - obvious spotlight activity and no dot.
??

I don't see the dot being a necessary part of OSX experience, I mean we don't need an indication light telling us every time the hard drive spins up, do we?

The dot was there for me. But like the above poster stated, I don't that's a big deal. Besides, how many times will Spotlight really index your HDD?

It seems to put the dot there when Spotlight can't be used. As soon as enough indexing has been done that you can type in requests the dot goes away.
