Spreadsheet App??

I'm looking for a basic spreadsheet application that I can use on my Iphone and ideally, synch with a pc or web based spreadsheet. Not looking to do anything fancy, but would want date fields and simple arithmetic forumulas. The one thread I found from November on this thread mentions Ispreadsheet which synch's with Google apps, but the thread indicates it's still not operating well as of November, 2008.

Two other app's come up when I search the store: Spreadsheet and Plus. Both look somewhat promising from their reviews, but don't appear to have synching capabilities. Also saw something regarding mobiledocs pro which seems to allow at least for wifi uploading and downloading, even you don't have a mobileme subscription, if I'm understanding right.

Anyone have any up to date experience with a good, basic spreadsheet app (including the ones I've mentioned above) that works well. Especially interested in app that can synch with a pc based or web based spreadsheet, but interested in good apps, even if can't yet synch.

The only one I've had any real experience with is with iSpreadsheet/Documents (iSpreadsheet is included as part of Documents...), which depending on the level of complexity that you're looking for might fit the bill reasonably well for you. It can upload/download spreadsheet to and from Google Documents, and from there you can upload/download to and from a regular computer. It's worth noting that it doesn't actually sync with Google Documents, if you download a spreadsheet from G-Docs, edit it, and re-upload it the edited spreadsheet will be a new document in G-Docs- but for some people this is actually a really good thing. The thread you found on it must have been a bit out-of-date since iSpreadsheet's editing and upload capabilities definitely work now.

MobileFiles Pro's Excel spreadsheet editing looks to be rather nice, but I've not had any actual experience in using it. It does appear from the description that you don't need a MobileMe account for the Pro version since it supports WiFi transfers. You'd need the Pro version though, as the other two version don't have the Excel editing capability.

I need to replace my iPod (again) and am trying to choose between another touch and a nano...

Anyway, has anyone used Docs to Go, to know how well that iSpreadsheet (or any other program) works compared to it?

I try to keep track of calories, fiber, and calcium from what I'm eating in a spreadsheet-do it on my Palm right now, but it's half broken, so if this would be able to replace that, I'll probably get another touch.

Is it fairly useable? Does it let you have at least 5 or 6 rows on screen, and let you edit stuff easily?

EDIT: To really replace my Palm's functionality I'd need something that can sync with my PC-but at this point, if I can just get this on there once (or even create it on there if I have to) and not have it get wiped out or whatever, and fairly useable, I'll be happy.

Mobile Files Pro is a very nice application, especially if you have MobileMe. But I would suggest iSpreadsheet. It is very powerful and you are able to email your documents.

Thanks! Does that Mobilefiles Pro work without a MobileMe account? (And hopefully have local storage?)

Between those two programs, it really looks like there are options for at least basic office stuff on the Touch! I mean they sure LOOK like real office programs if nothing else

I pretty well think I'm getting another touch.

I don't understand why Dataviz doesn't have Docs to Go on the mobile OS X platform though. I honestly thought Apple was going to be demoing that as their big reveal when the first showed off 3rd party apps way back when. I wonder if Dataviz is scared to make the investment and then have the app denied or something

Oh wow, yeah I watched the Youtube video for that Mobilefiles Pro, and it definitely looks like a good, real spreadsheet! Thank you so much!

I've never used Quickoffice's stuff, but I have at least heard of them, I know they probably actually know what they're doing, and it sure looks that way from the video.

Wish the syncing could be done over USB, and there was a more normal storage method and whatnot, but at least there seems to be a way to transfer stuff without involving Mobileme...hopefully I'll be able to figure it out. It sounds like they'll probably add Word support too, given that it already reads those files (that could actually be handy too).

Okay, I guess I'm buying a touch (again) tonight!

I don't know if it's the best thing out there or not, but I bought MobileFiles Pro, since at least Quickoffice has been doing this sort of thing for a long time.

The Wifi file transfer thing actually worked really well, with the iPod connecting through my work network, and my laptop on my work's Ethernet network (and I think they're behind different firewalls, maybe).

It's not secure though, so that limits its usefulness dramatically.

The editing seems pretty good. It's not as advanced as Documents to Go for PalmOS, but it seems to work for what it is.

Most annoying thing I've found so far is it doesn't remember your zoom level when you save and reopen a spreadsheet. Data entry is somewhat annoying too, but that's more just that I don't much like Apple's data entry system more than Quickoffice's fault.

This will be the first day of using it, so hopefully I'll remember to post something here if I encounter any issues.
