Hello all!

I think I might have a good use for the iPad, but I'm not 100% sure it will do what I want. I was hoping someone could tell me if it would.

We have jobs that we need to check things out on. Lets say, going to servers and verifying if they are on, power consumption, error states, that sort of thing. Things that you would normally make 1 sheet per server rack and put it in a clip board. You would have 50 sheets and look really........great..... Then you still need to go back and enter all the data to save for historical purposes.

I'd like to use the iPad as my clipboard. Can we make a spreadsheet in Numbers on the mac - tailor it how we want - and then upload it to the ipad? Our check-out-guy could go, do his checking, and then download the sheet back onto the mac for safekeeping. The next time he is due in for a checkup - he opens it up, and puts new data in it.

Would that work?

One of my concerns is those tabs at the top. I would have 1 spreadsheet with probably 25-50 tabs at the top. To make that on a iPad would be tedious. can you make tabs in Numbers on the mac and then upload it to the iPad?

Lastly, this is really a PC office. Can we make spreadsheets in Excel and upload them? Can we still get tabs and the such out of it? I'm trying to get them to buy a mac, but its a hard sell. digital clipboards though....

Thanks for the help all!
